Jazz vocalist Lou and the Chris Sutton trio bring you some of the best loved jazz standards and contemporary compositions. Expect Latin, swing and soft ballads through to stonking blues - delivered clearly and stylishly.
Without doubt, one of the most fresh and original voices operating on the contemporary jazz scene today. The Magdalena Reising and The Blue Cafe Jazz is a unique and enchanting blend of Scottish folk, Polish melodies and tin pan alley jazz standards and haunting originals. Featuring the captivating vocals and stunning jazz harp of Magdalena, each performance takes the audience on a dramatic and spiritual journey from the Highlands of Scotland to the shores of the Baltic. Accompanying her are two of the best improvising musicians in the UK, Terry Seabrook on piano and Steve Thompson on double bass ,each capable of holding an audience spellbound. At the centre of the band are the bewitching vocals of Magdalena Reising that evoke Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald but in the end are as individual , fresh and original as the band accompanying her. Not to be missed.

Manchester based trumpeter Matthew Halsall is fast carving out a reputation as one of the UK’s brightest talents. A gifted trumpeter with a beautiful, expressive tone, his music draws on his love of the transcendental spiritual and modal jazz of Alice and John Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders, as well as the glories of ‘60s British jazz, and has won him fans from Gilles Peterson to Mojo and BBC Music Magazine.
Halsall’s music is thoughtful, elegiac and explorative. But while imbued with a sense of history, the young trumpeter and DJ nevertheless brings a contemporary bounce to his beautiful music and his live shows are as likely to feature a Cinematic Orchestra or Soil and Pimp cover as his own thoughtful originals or the bands soulful explorations of the music of Alice and John Coltrane.
For his live shows in 2011, Halsall is promising to debut some brand new music (just recorded for his forthcoming album Memories Of Yesterday set for release in March 2011)
“'Kind Of Blue' meets The Cinematic Orchestra …With hypnotic grooves, and a meditative slow-build to his solos, Halsall's music is saturated in a life-affirming glowâ€. Time Out
“Grooving through time on the spiritual sunship.†Mojo Magazine
