Last Friday (21-03-08) the Brighton Jazz Club welcomed the 'Godfather of British jazz' Stan Tracey to it's new venue. The gig sold out early in the week indicating just how popular this man and his two accompanists are and rightfully so. The gig was just stunning. All three played out of their skins and, in my opinion, showed the value of playing alongside musicians you've done many, many gigs with. The choice of material was excellent as was the musicianship. Andy Cleyndert (on bass) was clearly enjoying himself and played better than I've ever seen him play before. Stan's son, Clark Tracey, also was excellent. See him with his own trio down the Brighton Jazz Club on April 4th.
